I'm a writer and fire dancer in San Francisco. I performed with a professional troupe for six years and am now working on a book about the art of modern fire dancing.
The book is a celebration of fire dancing in all forms: poi, staff, hoop, fingers, fans, jump rope, etc. It will include history, evolution, and many first-person accounts of playing with fire, plus many wonderful photographs!
If you're a fire dancer or fan of fire dancing and would like to take part in the book, please drop me a line. The book is highly dependent on the input of fire dancers themselves, so I'd love to hear from you!
From the beginning, I wanted to document the creation and development of this book - I was curious to see exactly how books go from mere ideas to tangible products, so I figured other people might be interested, too. Whether I get a big publisher (ideal!) or will self-publish (less ideal, but still a possibility), the book WILL get created. So, stay tuned for updates, as the book is constantly evolving!
